 Andy!

Our Intern

Greetings from your new Intern!

I would like to thank you all for this opportunity to serve along side you here at Stroh Church of Christ! I am extremely thankful for being able to complete this portion of my degree here at home with the people I know.  My supervisor for the year is Mark and we’ll be sharing an office for the duration on my internship.

I’d like to take this time to tell you a little bit about myself. My parents are Rick Hayward and Julie Hayward and I have three full siblings. My parents divorced when I was 16 and I lived with my father. He remarried to formerly Marty Kiskaden and I now have another two-step siblings. I grew up going through the Prairie Heights Community School system and graduated in 2007.  Sadly, I must admit that I was not living the Christian life to the fullest during those years, but have since strengthened my faith in God and am now letting Him direct my paths. I received my calling into ministry in the summer between my sophomore and junior year of high school at Epworth Forest church camp.  God transformed my heart and gave me a passion for ministry. I’m still waiting on the Lord to reveal what type of ministry He would like me in, but as of now I’m leaning towards youth and camp ministry as well as Christian counseling.

I am currently in-between my junior and senior year at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana.  Upon graduation, I’ll receive my Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Christian Educational Ministries with a double minor in Biblical Literature and Psychology. The Christian Ed. Major focuses on training us to be Christian teachers/leaders in a church setting. Part of my degree requirement is that I participate in an internship 40-50 hours a week for at least 8 weeks. I’ll be serving here for 10 weeks to fulfill this requirement, which takes me to August 9th.  There are also other aspects of the requirement that I will be completing. One major part of the program is that I will plan an event from start to finish, mostly on my own and Mark has given me two events to head up.  The two youth days (July 24th and August 7th) for this summer will be planned by yours truly.

I’ll also be attending most youth events including Cedar Point, CIY, and camp to help out Mark in anyway I can.  I have a couple different opportunities to teach this summer. I’ll be leading the discipleship group at CIY, teaching a class for the high school church camp and giving two short devotionals for the youth days coming up towards the end of the summer. I’ve also started up a young adults small group/Bible study that is open to all that have just graduated high school through 30 year olds.  So if you are/know someone that is looking for a place to plug in, just let me know and we’ll have you involved in no time.

Feel free to drop in and see me,

I’d love to get to know you!

Your Brother,

Andy
