YOU’VE GOT TO GET CONNECTED

How many of you are connected to Cable TV?

How many are connected via a cell Phone?

How many of you are connected to the internet?

Did you know that there are over 1.7 billion people connected to the internet?   Companies are spending hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars – not millions, billions – to lay cable and to put satellites in space in order to connect everybody in the world.

This week I did a little research and discovered that on land, in the next twelve months, 28 million miles of fiber optics will be laid around the world.  Under the ocean, they'll lay enough cable to circle the entire globe five times in the next year alone.  In the air there are now over 3000 satellites dedicated to communications.

If we wanted to we could buy the right kind of equipment and we could all stay at home on Sunday morning and we could do a live satellite broadcast into each and everyone of our homes.  I could even stay in bed and listen to Mike preach from there.  Some of you maybe even saying, “Yeah, let’s do that!”

No we won’t do that, because even though you would be connected we wouldn’t truly be connected.

For the past 30 years there's been a strong emphasis in our society on personal individuality, self-expression, self-esteem, self-fulfillment.  Focus on me, the individual.  I've got to do what's best for me.  As a result of that we've produced a very disconnected society.  People don't know each other.  You don't know all your neighbors.  You don't know all the people you work with.  We’re disconnected.

The problem is we weren't made to live that way.  The Bible says in Genesis 2:18, God said, "It is not good for man to be alone."  You were made for relationships.  You were created for connections.  Psychologists call this a universal need to belong.

The first connection is with the Lord.

  Have you made that connection??

Till I see you again,

 Just  Jeff
